Woman charged for stabbing man with kitchen knife inside Acosta residence

State police in Somerset County say an Acosta woman is behind bars after being accused of stabbing a man during a domestic altercation inside a Jenner Township residence.

Authorities say on Tuesday afternoon, troopers were dispatched to the residence, located along 4th Street, for a reported stabbing.

Police say the victim, a 57-year-old man, was reportedly stabbed by his girlfriend, 46-year-old Taniya Brooks Mason.

Investigators say the man reportedly suffered a large laceration to his left arm and he was transported to Conemaugh Hospital.

Police say Brooks-Mason reportedly fled the scene prior to troopers arriving and was found a short time later hiding in the basement of the residence.

According to online court records, Brooks-Mason was arraigned Tuesday night on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

She is being held at the Somerset County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Officials have not yet confirmed the extent of the victim's injuries and his current condition is unknown at this time.
